Objective:
Students will work independently to answer a prompt projected on the board in their composition notebooks (minimum of 5 complete sentences). Whole Class: First, we'll start to read the story A Place to Call Home aloud as a class, stopping to answer questions on the guiding questions study guide. Independent: Students will take the Summit Assessment for English 8 (Essay structure). Students will then review the resources for essay structure and begin to organize their information for the essay, in outline form. Or, students will go through the following tutorial at a station: my.hrw.com/content/hmof/language_arts/hmhcollections2017/resources/common/level_up/lit030/index.html Collaborative: Students will do several "pair and share"s throughout the period to summarize what they've learned and ask clarifying questions of their partner.
