Standard: RI 9-10.10, RI 11-12.10
Objective: Students will be able to use basic techniques outlined and practiced in class to transform their short story into a scene of a play. Do Now: Students will work independently to answer a prompt projected on the board (minimum of 5 complete sentences). Whole Class: As a class we'll take a look at a scene selection of a play. We'll annotate the scene for purposes of looking at how stage directions are used and how a script format differences from that of a short story. Independent: Students will revisit their creative writing and start the process of transforming it into a scene of a play. Collaborative: Students will be asked to look at an excerpt of a novel. Using an existing framework that I have provided, students will work in pairs to transform that excerpt of a novel into a scene of a play. Students will also do several "pair and share"s throughout the period to summarize what they've learned and ask clarifying questions of their partner. Exit Tickets: Fill out and submit the Google Form (<- click there). Comments are closed.
